Trish Stratus Early Career and Rise in WWE

Before entering professional wrestling, she studied at York University with aspirations of becoming a doctor. Her career path changed when she entered the fitness modeling industry, which eventually led her to WWE in 2000, then known as the WWF.

Initially perceived as a valet, Stratus worked tirelessly to improve her in-ring skills. Over time, she earned the respect of fans and critics alike. Alongside her wrestling success, she won the WWE Hardcore Championship once, was named WWE Babe of the Year three times, and later received the honor of Diva of the Decade.

Trish Stratus First Women’s Championship Win

Trish Stratus captured her first WWF Women’s Championship on November 18, 2001, at the Survivor Series event. Competing in a six-pack challenge, she emerged victorious, marking her official transition from manager to full-time competitor.

Shortly after, she entered a rivalry with Jazz. Despite battling injuries during this period, Stratus continued to perform at a high level. Her first title reign came to an end on the February 4, 2002, episode of Raw, where she lost the championship back to Jazz.

Iconic Sixth Title Reign and 448-Day Championship Run

One of the most memorable moments among her world championship wins came on January 9, 2005, at New Year’s Revolution. She defeated Lita to win her sixth WWE Women’s Championship.

This reign lasted an incredible 448 days and remains one of the longest in WWE history. During this period, Stratus successfully defended the title against nearly every top female competitor on the roster. Her character evolved from heel to fan favorite, further cementing her legacy. The historic reign ended at WrestleMania 22, where she was defeated by Mickie James.

Final Championship Win and Retirement as Champion

Trish’s final world championship victory took place on September 17, 2006, at Unforgiven in her hometown of Toronto. In an emotional match, she once again defeated Lita, this time using Bret Hart’s iconic Sharpshooter submission.

This victory marked her seventh WWE Women’s Championship win. Following the match, Stratus announced her retirement from full-time wrestling, vacating the title shortly afterward. Retiring as champion remains one of the most fitting conclusions to her career.
