India’s Super 8 Schedule Confirmed: ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is heating up, and Team India have once again stamped their authority on the tournament. Widely regarded as the favorites to lift the trophy, the Men in Blue have secured their place in the Super 8 round after winning all three of their group-stage matches.
India became the first team from Group A to qualify for the next phase following a commanding 61-run victory over Pakistan in Colombo. Before that, they overcame a stiff test against the USA and then cruised past Namibia to complete a flawless group campaign.
India’s Dominant Run in ICC Tournaments Continues
Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India’s white-ball teams are currently enjoying a golden era reminiscent of Ricky Ponting’s Australia from the early 2000s. The numbers tell a remarkable story—India have won 26 of their last 27 matches in ICC tournaments.
This extraordinary run began at the 2023 ODI World Cup, where India lost only the final, and continued with unbeaten title-winning campaigns at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The consistency across formats has made India the team to beat in global events.
Group Stage Recap and Major Tournament Upsets
India still have one group-stage match remaining against the Netherlands on February 18 in Ahmedabad, but their Super 8 qualification is already confirmed.
The group stage of the tournament has delivered plenty of excitement, especially with Associate and lower-ranked teams pushing traditional powerhouses. The biggest shock came in Group B, where Australia were knocked out after defeats to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, opening the door for a dramatic reshuffle in the Super 8 lineup.
