The top opening pairs in T20 World Cup 2026 delivered some remarkable performances and record-breaking partnerships throughout the tournament. The event itself was historic, especially for India, who achieved several milestones on their way to winning the trophy.

India became the first team to win three men’s T20 World Cup titles after their victories in 2007 and 2024. The 2026 triumph also made them the first side to win back-to-back editions of the tournament and the first team to lift the trophy on home soil. In the final, India defeated New Zealand convincingly, ending their long wait for a T20 World Cup win against the Kiwis.

The final match witnessed another historic moment when India posted 255 for 5, the highest total ever recorded in a T20I knockout game and the third-highest total in men’s T20 World Cup history. Earlier in the semi-final against England, India had scored 253 for 7, making them the first team to register 250-plus totals in consecutive T20 World Cup matches.

Several opening pairs played a major role in the tournament with explosive starts and massive partnerships. Below is a look at some of the most notable opening duos from the T20 World Cup 2026.
