Dunith Wellalage Personal Life and Family Background
Dunith Wellalage belongs to a Sinhalese Buddhist family. His parents are Suranga Niroshan Wellalage and Harshani Kanchana Wellalage. His father, a former school-level wicketkeeper-batsman, later became a businessman and played a crucial role in supporting Dunith’s cricketing ambitions.
Tragically, Suranga Wellalage passed away on 18 September 2025 due to a heart attack, just hours after watching Dunith play in an Asia Cup match. Dunith returned home immediately after being informed of the loss.
