India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 Match Summary

India posted a competitive total of 175/7, built around a blistering knock from Ishan Kishan. The left-hander played with freedom and authority, scoring 77 runs off just 40 deliveries. His innings included 10 boundaries and three sixes, setting the tone for India’s dominance.

Pakistan’s most effective bowler on the night was Saim Ayub, who finished with figures of 3/25, but the damage had already been done by the time he struck.

In response, Pakistan were bundled out for 114 in 18 overs. The Indian bowling unit delivered a collective masterclass, with all six bowlers used by captain Suryakumar Yadav picking up at least one wicket. Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya claimed two wickets each, ensuring Pakistan never settled into the chase.

How Ishan Kishan and India Took Control Early

Pakistan began brightly when captain Salman Ali Agha removed Abhishek Sharma for a first-ball duck. However, that early breakthrough only brought Ishan Kishan into full attacking mode.

Kishan launched an aggressive counterattack, highlighted by a towering six off Shaheen Afridi. He then stitched together a crucial 87-run partnership for the second wicket with Tilak Varma, with Kishan doing the bulk of the scoring. His half-century came in just 27 balls, completely swinging momentum India’s way.

Saim Ayub eventually halted Kishan’s charge in the ninth over, but by then, India had already built a strong platform.

    Pakistan Collapse Under Pressure

Pakistan’s chase fell apart almost immediately. Hardik Pandya struck with a wicket maiden, removing Sahibzada Farhan, before Jasprit Bumrah dismissed both Saim Ayub and Salman Ali Agha in quick succession. Pakistan slumped to 13/3 inside the first two overs.

Usman Khan attempted a recovery with a fighting 44, adding 39 runs with Shadab Khan to take Pakistan to 71/4 at the halfway mark. However, the rising required run rate forced risky shots, and wickets continued to tumble. Pakistan slid to 83/7 by the 13th over and were eventually bowled out well short of the target.
